Practice Summary
Connie joined Bozicevic, Field and Francis LLP in 2008. Connie’s practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution involving both domestic and foreign patent applications. Her practice covers areas of pharmaceuticals, chemistry, and biotechnology. Her experience includes client-service, in-house, and litigation support. This combination of knowledge gives her a unique insight into the needs and responsibilities of her clients along with skills to develop strong patents and portfolios.
Connie received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry at UC Berkeley and a Doctorate in chemistry at UC Irvine. Her graduate studies in the area of bioorganic chemistry include site-directed mutagenesis with non-natural amino acids and de novo drug design of ligands that bind to glutamate receptors. Technical expertise gained from graduate studies included synthetic organic chemistry and molecular biology.
Prior to joining Bozicevic, Field and Francis LLP, Connie was a patent agent at the Orange County office of Knobbe, Martens, Olson, and Bear, LLP and the Silicon Valley office of Foley and Lardner, LLP. She was also an in-house patent agent at Theravance, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company in South San Francisco. While working as a patent agent at Knobbe, Martens, she was also an adjunct faculty member at Concordia University in Irvine and taught introductory organic chemistry.
Connie is a member of American Chemical Society, American Association for Advancement of Science, and Iota Sigma Pi (National Honor Society for women in chemistry). She has been registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office since 2002.
