Practice Summary
Pamela’s practice encompasses a wide range of activities, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and foreign patent offices. She has successfully appealed numerous cases before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is familiar with U.S. interference and European Opposition proceedings. Pamela has in depth expertise in a variety of biotechnology subject areas, including stem cell biology, gene cloning, molecular structures, human and mouse genomics, antibody production and uses, hematopoiesis, cell separation, devices and methods for cell and biomolecule separation, transgenic and surgical animal models, pharmaceuticals, and formulations.

Pamela received a Ph.D. from the Stanford University Department of Microbiology and Immunology in 1990, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. Prior to graduate work, she spent several years as a research associate at Genentech, Inc. in the departments of molecular biology and biocatalysis, working on the cloning of novel genes and expression systems in bacteria. During her studies at Stanford in the laboratory of Dr. Irving Weissman, she characterized a protein involved in B cell development and transformation of tumor cells. The results of these research efforts in industry and academia have been published in international peer-reviewed journals. Recent articles of hers have been published in BioVenture View and The Recorder Intellectual Property Supplement, as well as a chapter in “Alternative Careers for Scientists,” an Academic Press book edited by C. Robbins-Roth.

Prior to joining Bozicevic, Field & Francis in 1997, Pamela accumulated over five years of valuable patent prosecution experience as a Patent Agent with Flehr, Hohbach, Test, Albritton & Herbert, and later with Fish & Richardson. Over the course of her 17 plus years of intellectual property work, Pamela has been instrumental in obtaining over 200 patents for her clients

Pamela began her practice in patent prosecution in 1992, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
