Practice Summary
Peter Socarras counsels clients as they develop and bring new technologies to market. His practice includes developing both offensive and defensive patent strategies to help clients acheive their business goals. For example, Peter focuses on providing opinions on freedom-to-operate, patentability, validity, and infringement of patents. Peter also counsels clients on inter partes and ex parte reexaminations, which have become strategic alternatives, or complements, to patent litigation.

Prior to joining Bozicevic, Field & Francis, Peter spent six years at a Washington D.C. Intellectual Property law firm gaining valuable experience in patent prosecution, litigation, due diligence invesitgations, and reexaminations. Peter worked for clients ranging from small start-ups to multi-national Fortune 500 companies. Peter has also worked as an in-house patent agent at a multi-national medical device company, where he wrote patent applications for stent-delivery systems.

Peter's technical expertise includes medical devices and diagnostic systems. He also has experience representing clients in clean, energy-efficient technologies; lighting systems; industrial equipment; and consumer products.

Peter Socarras received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. Peter received a Masters of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami. As a graudate student, he conducted research in the field of cardiac diagnostics, and more specifically in developing a diagnostic tool to analyze heart rate variability. He also received a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami.
